MS girls' soccer loses two games and ties once against Seisen

The middle school girls' soccer teams played three games against Seisen on Saturday. A Team lost 4-1, B Team lost 2-1 and C Team tied 1-1.

Coach Charles Smoker gave thoughts on all three games, starting with the A Team game:

"This was an action-packed game. It was even for the first half except for their best player's direct free kick goal and an unstoppable shot by the same girl. We could have given up, but that is not what these girls are made of. We controlled most of the second half and pulled to within 2-1.

We had several good opportunities after that, but we couldn't get the back of the net. Unfortunately, Seisen did so twice. Even then, we didn't give up and could have scored several times with good looks. It was a loss, but it was exciting soccer to watch! The girls played together as a team, and we can see the vast improvement from our first game. Great game CAJ!

Soo Min scored CAJ's goal on an assist from Angela. Rion and Ellen played goalkeeper for CAJ.

Smoker said this of the B Team game:

"This was another action-packed game. This was a back-and-forth battle that kept everyone on the edge of their seats! Kalista had the first goal of the game in the first half. Seisen came back to tie later in the first half. The second half was even more intense, as both teams had several chances to go ahead, but gutsy play by both keepers in the second half kept the scores low.

Unfortunately, Seisen squeezed one into CAJ's goal and that was the difference. But CAJ never gave up. What an amazing soccer game to watch! The girls played as a unit and kept plugging away to the very end, never giving up. Well done, CAJ!"

Playing goalkeeper for CAJ were Hikari and Ellen.

"The C Team was yet another action-packed game, back and forth, up and down the field," Smoker said. "Sophia scored first for the C Team. Later, Seisen scored in the second half to tie the game up. It looked like we might go up 2-1, but we couldn't find the back of the net.

But Seisen didn't score either. It was a great game for CAJ, and no one wanted to be subbed out. It was fun to watch! Well done, CAJ!"

Sakurako assisted Sophia's goal. Hikari and Sakurako played goalkeeper for CAJ.

A Team and B Team both have records of 0-2 this season. C Team is 0-0-1, as Saturday was its first game of the season. A and B Team will play next on Wednesday against BST at Nagasawa Field.
