JV boys' basketball falls 48-30 to Yokota

The JV boys' basketball team couldn't hold an early lead at Yokota on Friday night and ended up losing 48-30. The Knights are now 1-3 in league play this season.

CAJ quickly scored the game's first nine points on three three-point shots. Coach Charles Smoker also commented on the team's defense:

"Our 1-3-1 [defense] had Yokota on its heels and we had many steals, but we failed to convert enough chances and let Yokota stay in the game," Smoker said. "We had Yokota on the ropes several times, but we couldn't put them away."

The Panthers closed to the CAJ lead to three by halftime. But the Knights then had an unfortunate stretch in the third quarter where the Panthers had three consecutive baskets off of CAJ turnovers. From then on, Smoker said the Panthers gradually gained confidence and eventually pulled away for their final winning margin of 18 points.

Smoker said the following regarding the game:

"Mistakes are going to be made on the court and in life. But we need to learn from our mistakes. We will have another chance to beat Yokota."

The Knights had three players score all of their points: Dongha (15), Satvik (10) and Hikaru (five).

CAJ's next game will be at home against Zama next Tuesday.
