Girls' soccer places third at Division II Far East Tournament

The girls’ soccer team ended its season with a great performance on Wednesday, the final day of the team's Far East Tournament. The Knights won two of their final three games to place third out of 10 Division II teams.

CAJ started the day with a 4-1 victory over Osan, despite the fact that the Knights were the third seed in their pool and Osan was the second seed in the opposite pool.

“The three goals we scored in the second half come from some really good passing combinations,” Coach Steve Hall said. “That was probably our best soccer of the season.”

CAJ then lost to M.C. Perry 2-0 in the tournament semifinals, but rebounded to beat Zama 2-1 in overtime. Zama was the top team in CAJ’s pool and had beaten the Knights 5-0 in pool play, but the team gutted out a nice comeback victory to end its season.

In the three Tuesday games, Keziah had two goals, and Miyuki, Kaitlyn, Honoka (in overtime against Zama) and Rachel all had one each. Keziah, Miyuki and Kachel all had one assist apiece.

Kaitlyn and Kachel were also named to the All-Tournament teams for their strong performances this week.

The Knights ended their season with a 15-9-2 record. Hall noted that this was a “season of firsts” for the Knights, who made huge jumps in competitiveness and consistency from last year.
