The boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both completed Day 1 of their Far East Championships on Monday at Yokota.

Most of the events contested on Monday were preliminaries, so those events did not produce final results.

However, CAJ did compete in many of the events that were scored, earning points in most of them and establishing two school records in the boys’ 4x100 and 4x800 meter relay races.

CAJ’s teams are competing in the small school division, but individual medals (top three) and ribbons (fourth through eighth) will be given according to overall placing. Here were the top-eight overall finishers from the day, with small schools placings in parentheses:

1st (1st)- Boys’ 4x800 meter relay team of Hayato, Tristin, Jeremy and Take (8:15.55, pictured)
2nd (1st)- Boys’ 4x100 meter relay team of Wonjun, Philip, Josiah and Kaito (44.22)
5th (2nd)- Girls’ 4x800 meter relay team of Krista, Morgan, Natasha and Mariko (11:03.19)
6th (3rd)- Philip in discus (34.66)
7th (1st)- Take in 1600 meters (4:39.24)
8th (2nd)- Jeremy in 1600 meters (4:39.27)

Tuesday will be the second and final day of the Far East Championships. Most of the events will be scored on the second day.
