Girls' soccer plays second day of ASIJ Invite

The busy schedule for CAJ's girls' soccer team continued on Saturday with three games at the ASIJ Invite. The Knights began with a 1-0 win against Seisen before losing to Kadena 4-0 and beating ISSH 2-0. They placed third out of seven teams in the tournament.

Coach Steve Hall was mostly pleased with the Knights' play during the day, except for one key lapse in focus against Kadena. The Knights and Panthers were tied at zero after one half, but Kadena scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

"I told the girls 'You work so hard for a half only to see all that work go down the drain in a matter of minutes,'" said Hall. "That's what a lack of focus and not quite being ready will do to you."

Hall did comment that the defense was very solid aside from the 10-minute stretch against Kadena. He also thought the Knights were able to bounce back mentally from Friday's game against Kadena (also a 4-0 loss).

"I think our mindset today was much more focused on what we needed to do, so that was good," Hall said.

The Knights' record is now 7-4-2 against varsity teams. They will go to Zama with the boys' team on Tuesday for their next game.
