The three middle school volleyball teams began their seasons on Saturday morning, all losing to NIS at the CAJ gym. The C Team lost 2-0 (22-25, 17-25), the B Team lost 2-0 (11-25, 19-25) and the A Team also lost 2-0 (19-25, 22-25).

Head coach Steve Hall gave several thoughts on the performances from the girls:

"With all our teams, today was our first day, so we're going to have a lot of improvement as we go, game by game and even during the day. You see that especially with the C Team, where the first few points they're really tentative and then they get a little more courage. By the end of the game, they're getting after the ball much more energetically.

With both the B and the C Teams, we're just making sure that everybody plays and has a chance to get good time in. Getting to more balls and being more aggressive will be something that we work on especially with the B and C Teams. There's just a lot of hesitation and tentativeness.

What the A Team did much better was playing with more energy and aggressiveness. They had more of the bump, set, spike [combination] and some blocks. I told the girls I didn't really know what to expect with the A Team, but I was pleasantly surprised with how they did.

They're hopeful, I'm hopeful. I know it's going to improve a lot, game by game. Although none of our teams won, we were competitive and got the first game out of the way."

The Knights' next games will be at home again next Saturday against ISSH.
