HS boys' basketball gets one win and one loss against YIS

The high school boys' basketball teams played at YIS on Friday night. Varsity won 58-49 and JV lost 55-36.

These were varsity coach Steve Hall's words regarding the game:

"We had a few turnovers in the last minute resulting in layups for YIS, which cut our double-digit lead to single digits. We missed a lot of layups and putbacks throughout the game as well. We played well overall and were able to keep YIS from having any significant runs."

CAJ was led in scoring by Ty (19 points), Koji (13 points) and Enosh (11 points).

In the JV game, coach Charles Smoker said YIS came out on fire from three-point range, making six shots from long distance in the first six minutes en route to a 20-2 lead.

"But CAJ continued to battle throughout the game," Smoker said. "We closed the gap to eight points at one time, but unfortunately it was a constant uphill climb, and we were not able to overcome the early 18-point deficit. I'm proud of the team because they gave all they had!"

CAJ's scoring leaders were Satvik (10 points), Sho (seven points) and Lukas (six points).

The teams' Kanto Plains records are now 3-1 (varsity) and 0-4 (JV). Varsity will play at Aoba on Tuesday night and both teams will host Yokota next Wednesday.
