Varsity girls' basketball wins 25-21 against Seisen

The varsity girls' basketball team pulled out a 25-21 victory over Seisen on Thursday night. The Knights now have a 4-1 record in league play this season.

CAJ was without Anna due to sickness and Kachel played through an injured wrist. Both teams struggled tremendously on offense, but CAJ was able to stay in control for most of the contest with a slim lead.

"It wasn't the prettiest game, but when we don't have all of our starters there, it changes things," coach Craig Eby said. "It's also the first league game back after break. We're still trying to get back in shape, and having three people who were injured during break and didn't play in last week's alumni game was a test to see how we could handle things."

Eby mentioned that the team never really found its scoring groove, but that it used an effective press and forced some turnovers to maximize its possessions.

Rachel made two key free throws with less than 10 seconds remaining to give the Knights their four-point lead. She ended up with 15 points in the game. Jessica had four points and 10 rebounds and Mitsuki had four points and six rebounds.

The next game for CAJ will be at home on Saturday against Yokota at 11:30 a.m.
