JV boys' basketball loses 55-32 to NIS

The JV boys’ basketball team lost 55-32 to a team of mostly ninth graders from NIS on Saturday afternoon. The team now has a 1-7 record this season.

The teams started the game relatively evenly in score, but NIS made a big run in the second quarter and was able to keep the Knights at arm’s length for the rest of the game.

Coach Charles Smoker said the team's energy level was somewhat low with many members either out or recovering from recent sickness, but he said the players still were always eager to enter the game and play.

"Talent-wise, they were a better team than us," Smoker said. "We probably had a quarter and a half of good basketball, and that wasn't quite enough today."

Smoker added that the team made some progressing in running its offense and boxing out. He still thinks the team can get better at rebounding and finishing inside, but he said the Knights "took three or four steps forward today."

Satvik led the Knights with 14 points. Leif also had 11 points, and Kenshin had four.

CAJ’s next game will at home next Saturday against St. Maur.
