Girls' soccer wins all three games at tournament

CAJ's girls' soccer team continued its winning ways at the Sakura Tournament on Friday with three victories and no losses. The Knights defeated Seisen's varsity by a score of 2-0, then beat ISSH's JV 4-0 and finished with a 1-0 triumph over ASIJ's JV.

For the day, CAJ got two goals from Kaitlyn and one each from Rachel, Rina, Yena and Honoka. One of the Knights' goals against ISSH was an own goal. Kachel, Miyuki, Alice and Rachel all had one assist each.

Coach Steve Hall said the tournament was more of a jamboree. The teams played each other in a round robin fashion, and CAJ did a lot of lineup shuffling in the games, especially against ISSH's JV.

"The competition allowed us to work on a lot of passing and switching of fields under not as heavy pressure as it would have been against a Kinnick or will be tomorrow against ASIJ (varsity)," Hall said.

Hall added that the team's focus continues to be "making our passes quicker."

The Knights will go to ASIJ on Saturday for a game at 1:45 p.m. against the tough Mustangs. The Knights' record is 7-1-1 this season, but 5-1-1 against varsity teams specifically.
