HS wrestling loses 43-13 against ASIJ

The CAJ high school wrestling team faced off against ASIJ in a dual meet on Thursday. The Knights lost 43-13 against the Mustangs.

Despite the lopsided final score, CAJ won three of the six official matches that were contested. Joe, Peter and Tai all beat their opponents in their weight divisions.

"Tai had a very good day," coach Morris Yaegashi said. "His movements on the mat are improving with each match. It's been really fun watching him. Joe and Peter had good wins, too. Joe wasn't feeling too well, but he toughed it out.

Yaegashi added that, while Amon lost, "he wrestled the best he has so far this season." He commended Amon for working hard to return from a neck injury at the beginning of the season.

Below are the individual weight class match results against ASIJ for which CAJ had an available wrestler:
115- Joe wins by technical fall (10-0)
122- Peter wins by fall
141- Tai wins by technical fall (10-0)
148- Amon loses by technical fall (10-0)
158- Leo loses by fall
180- SungWon loses by fall

CAJ had to forfeit to Zama at the 101-, 108-, 129-, 135-, 168- and 215-pound weight classes.

The high school wrestling team's record in dual meets is now 0-2. The next event for the high school wrestling team is The Beast Tournament at Kinnick on Saturday.
