JV boys' basketball loses 75-30 to St. Mary's

The JV boys' basketball team played tough in the first half on Friday night before eventually falling to St. Mary's by a score of 75-30. The Knights now have a 1-5 record this season.

The Knights once again had to deal with sickness in this game. Three players were unable to play for this reason. However, CAJ got off to a strong start against the Titans, who currently have the second-most wins in the Kanto Plains. The Knights were down just 31-22 at halftime despite being shorthanded.

"Our main objective on defense was just to have a desire to get the ball," coach Charles Smoker said. "That's going to influence how we play defense, how we rebound, everything. It felt like we went after every ball we possibly could."

Smoker also credited the Knights for being aggressive on offense and not being afraid to shoot or drive, which has been an issue for the team this season. He said the first two quarters of the game were CAJ's two best quarters of the season.

The Titans pulled away in the second half due to their depth and experience, but Smoker said he was still proud of the team's performance in spite of the loss.

Ken led the Knights with 10 points. Taiyo also had six points, Hikaru had five and Leif had four.

CAJ's next game will be next Tuesday evening at ASIJ.
