Fine Arts Department at CAJ

Under the Fine Arts department umbrella are the Art classes (K-12) and Home Economics and Industrial Arts classes (6-12). Each of these courses seeks to unpack and model CAJ’s core values in our instruction, and encourage students to apply these values into their daily lives outside of class.

God is the Author of Truth:
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)
In Fine Arts classes, we look at the truth in God’s Word for guiding principles to set the course for our beliefs and practices.
As image bearers of Christ, we seek to develop the talents God has blessed us with to be a blessing to others.
Each class encourages students to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us, and faithful caretakers of our learning environment.

We are created in His Image:
“...and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts.” (Exodus 31:3)
As image bearers of Christ, we seek to develop the talents God has blessed us with to be a blessing to others. We aim to develop our craftsmanship skills to serve others, whether it be making a picnic table for students to gather around in the plaza, serving food that students have made to bless the Thrift Shop volunteers or creating works of art reflecting that bring beauty and pleasure to our campus.

We are designed for Community:
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus.” (Romans 15:5)
The diversity represented by our community provide both opportunities and challenges to living in community as the people of God. Learning to work well with peers having different skills and abilities enables us to learn to respect each other and collaborate more productively. In Fine Arts courses, students use their gifts and talents to encourage others, enabling all students to develop their potential.
