God, who created everything, has also given us the opportunity to be able to study his very handiwork. What a privilege this is! In the science department, students grow their knowledge of and appreciation toward God’s beautiful kingdom and look for ways to apply their understanding to impact the world around them. Students understand that God, who established the natural laws, is active not only in dramatic supernatural events but also in the

ordinary things such as in change of the seasons and in the intricacies of an insect’s life cycle.

Students grow as responsible learners by expanding their understanding of the complexity and the intricacy of how God’s world functions. At the high school level, students have opportunities to explore further through a variety of course options including a required course in biology in grade 9, followed by a variety of choices from grades 10 - 12, such as environmental science, physics, chemistry, advanced placement courses, and robotics.

As students make observations and connections, draw conclusions, and pose new questions, they grow in their critical thinking skills striving toward becoming better decision makers and problem solvers. It is exciting to see that across divisions, students cultivate their desire to use their gifts and talents to create a strong sense of community and to serve others. Our goal for our students in the science department is that they will continue to pursue a deeper understanding of the beauty of God revealed in his creation and in his Word. We desire that as they respond to God’s calling for each individual, that each student will become good stewards of his world, and that they will play an active role as agents of renewal in their communities.
